Book Baan Panburi Village

Situated on the north east corner of Koh Pha Ngan, this secluded, newly built resort with a wide frontage of over 300 meters expanding over half the bay of white sand, crystal clear waters and lots of coconut trees was developed by the owner and his friends to provide the best up-market budget accommodation on the island. Natural beauty and cleanliness have been blended with simple huts and bures that serve as an idyllic paradise for young and seasoned travelers alike who by chance have stumbled across this isolated paradise. Not yet, but very soon to be discovered by the Lonely Planet and the likes, this remote unspoiled haven is by far the jewel of Koh Pha Ngan.

And it is not easy to get to Baan Panburi.
After a long train ride or coach ride from Bangkok which often takes up to 8 hours, or a one hour flight to the nearby Samui island, then an express boat or ferry ride taking another one to two hours, you arrive the island’s main town Thong Sala.

From there, another exciting 45 minutes up a forested jungle, several ravines, passing through dirt road, falling boulder, water fall and through a running stream, you finally find yourself arriving at a beautiful bay of deep blue color, white sandy beach flanked by the foot of a mountain range.

This is Baan Panburi, a breathtaking sight that is pictured as a signature view of Koh Pha Ngan.

The resort was opened in January 2001 consisting of 63 huts and bures. Bures is the word for island cottage made of local wooden materials. Here it is made of bamboo panel walls, palm leaf roof with wooden floor, rustic and picturesque in appearance. Our guests often hang their hammocks by the front porch which has striking seaviews and spend lazy times reading or taking naps. Island hut is a slightly smaller and less detail version, both are cleanly kept and have excellent view.

Here’s a word of regret that Baan Panburi resort was eventually discovered by The Lonely Planet Guide Book.

This July Joe Cummings, the author of Thailand's Islands and Beaches came to stay with resort with friends without our prior notice and after he left, wrote them the following comments

"Baan Panburi is exactly the kind of beach place I like most. The simple clean bungalow with large windows facing the beach allow lovely views from inside. I applaud the fact that Baan

Panburi hasn't added air conditioning to the rooms. The food here is the best Thai and Western cuisine anywhere outside Bangkok. the friendly, efficient service will surely bring Baan Panburi many repeat visitors, including myself. I look forward to my next stay !"

By the way, do not expect hot water, but the weather should be very tropical and warm with fresh breezes. Ceiling fan is provided as well as mosquito net to cover the bed at night. A very rustic and wonderful experience to spend time here, guaranteeing one would not want to leave when the time comes.

Restaurant

To live to our tradition, of serving the best food on Koh Phangan (as commented by Joe Cummings, author of the Lonely Planet on Thailand Island and beach 2003) we have opened a full service section of our Sala Rim Nam Restaurant to accommodate an overflowing number of diners who patrons us nightly

Our Chef Ja, who is welknown to our repeated visitors as usual has arranged many new dishes for you to try like her spicy egg plant salad, authentic Indian masara prawns curry, vegetarian gado-gado salad to green curry pizza and not to mention the fresh succulent seafood B.B.Q from the catch of the day. And of cause if you wish Ja to prepare any special dishes for your special occasion, all you have to do is ask for her.
